Jakarta Fair 2012, the biggest expo in South East Asia was officially opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at Jakarta International Expo Arena Kemayoran Jakarta on 14th June 2012.

According to Jakarta International Expo Managing Director Siti Hartati Murdaya the total number of participant for this year expo  is 2650. Balinese Observe Nyepi Day of Silence

Ogoh-ogoh, sculpture of Butha kala, a mightiful giant creature in Balinese mithology. Ogoh-ogoh is usually performed a day before Nyepi day.  Tomorrow, 23rd March 2012, the Balinese Hindus will observe Nyepi day of silence to mark the new year in Balinese calender.

If the westerners open the New Year in revelry, in contrast, the Balinese open their New Year in silence. This is called Nyepi Day, the Balinese day of Silence, which falls on the day following the dark moon of the spring equinox, and opens a new year of the Saka Hindu era which began in 78 A.D. 26th SEA GAMES INDONESIA 2011

Indonesia SEA Games 2011 will be held in 11 days from November 11, 2011 – November 22, 2011 in two host cities, Palembang and Jakarta with 542 gold medals to be competed through 44 sports.Indonesia is set to host the 2011 SEA Games in the SEA Games Federation Council Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand 6 September 2006. This year is the fourth time for Indonesia to be host country for Southeast Asian countries sports festival after in SEA Games X 1979, SEA Games XV 1987, dan SEA Games XIX 1997. 10th TANJUNGPINANG INTERNATIONAL DRAGON BOAT RACE 2011

10th Tanjungpinang International Dragon Boat Race will be held on 17-20 November 2011. The participants of this year race will compete for a cash prize totalling to Rp. 156.800.000 (US$ 18.500) and trophies from the Kepulauan Riau Governor and trophy from Tanjungpinang Mayor.

Alongside with this event the organizing committee will also hold  canoe race and jong race (jong = miniaturized boat).

PSSI TO HOLD ITS CONGRESS ON BINTAN ISLAND IN MARCH 2011

The All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) will hold its congress on Bintan Island, Riau Archipelago 19 March 2011. PSSI is the governing body of the most popular game in the nation and member of Asian football governing body AFC and FIFA.

The congress main agenda is to elect its President for 2011-2015 tenure. The incumbent Nurdin Halid is reported to run for 3rd term in the office.
